Privacy starts with local files.

EaseInk is designed around documents you own and control on your device.

No account required

EaseInk does not require an account or cloud service to edit Markdown.

No automatic uploads

Documents and local images are not automatically uploaded. Network images are read from their original address for display.

Anonymous product measurement

In Preferences → Privacy, “Help improve EaseInk” is off by default and can be changed at any time. The Windows Setup wizard offers the same anonymous measurement choice selected by default; its one-time choice is applied at first launch. When consent is on, the desktop app may send a small anonymous event to estimate installations, active installations, and version distribution. It contains only a random installation UUID, event name, time, app version, platform, and language. It never determines whether the app can run: offline use, timeouts, and blocked requests leave the editor fully usable.

What is not collected

This measurement does not accept or derive Markdown content, file names, file paths, images, usernames, email addresses, hardware fingerprints, or other identity information. Consent can be turned off to remove the local installation ID and scheduling state. Telemetry is retained for up to 90 days.

Anonymous suggestions

The public Suggestions page asks for no account, name, or email. Submitted text is held for moderation; pending suggestions are removed after 30 days. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in a suggestion.

Website privacy

The website uses no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. The small EaseInk API is self-hosted and used only for the purposes described above.
